Founded in 2017 in the heart of Somerset, Elements Boutique Spa was born from a vision of refined luxury harmoniously blended with a deep respect for nature. Our owner, Nick, imagined a destination where wellbeing, sustainability, and exceptional design could come together seamlessly – and he set out to bring that vision to life.

A chance meeting with Sara, an industry expert with over 17 years of experience across award-winning spas, transformed that vision into reality. With Nick’s creativity and Sara’s extensive knowledge of spa operations and treatment excellence, Elements Boutique Spa began its journey rooted in passion, craftsmanship, and a shared commitment to exceptional guest care.

Four Generations of

Our family

Windmill Retreat holds a deeply special place within our family. What began as a shared vision between Nick, his dad and late grandfather has gradually grown into the retreat you see today - shaped by generations of hard work, care and a love for the Somerset countryside. For decades, our family has walked these fields and admired the ever-changing views across the Somerset Levels, and now, with Nick’s own children growing up here, it is incredibly meaningful to see a fourth generation experiencing the same surroundings and watching the estate continue to evolve.

Since opening our doors in 2015, it has been a privilege to share this peaceful corner of Somerset with guests from all over the world. Windmill Retreat remains truly family-run, with members of the family on site daily supporting the team, welcoming guests and helping shape the experience we offer.

Rooted in Sustainability

Growing for future generations

As part of our ongoing sustainability promise, we’ve embarked on a long-term tree-planting initiative across the Estate, with more than 2,500 native trees planted onsite since 2015. Carefully selected species are enriching biodiversity, providing natural habitats for wildlife, and ensuring our landscape continues to flourish. Each tree represents renewal - growing stronger year after year, much like the memories created here.

Guests visiting the Estate can see these plantings taking root around the lodges, spa gardens, and walking trails, creating shaded pathways, seasonal colour, and a sense of calm that complements our wellness philosophy. Beyond their beauty, these trees play a vital role in supporting clean air, absorbing carbon, and nurturing the soil.
